Unusual cargo
(N.Z. Press Association) | AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. i Two unusual imports made! an eventful entry to Auck-H land this afternoon. U.T.A.-p : French Airlines was bringing I in a cargo of one elephant ; and a priceless exhibition of;Medieval art from France. But the plane had to make an emergency landing when it was discovered that one of the nose-wheel tyres had burst. The plane glided in to land on its rear wheels, pursued along the runway by airport fire engines and emergency crew. Five policemen and two private security guards kept ja watchful eye as the crates of art treasures were unj loaded. Last off the plane was ■ Kashin, the young female elephant who has been donated to the Auckland Zoo. and the ■ children of Auckland by the . Auckland Savings Bank. 'From Papeete, he too was in a crate.
