Search finds boy
It took the police only 45 minutes to find a boy of seven reported missing in the Fendalton district last evening.
At 7.27 p.m., the mother of Tony Hill, of Hawford Street, Opawa, reported that her son had gone missing while visiting a relative at 30 Garden Road, Fendalton. A search of the area had failed to find him.
As dusk was approaching, the police gave the search top priority, several patrol cars from throughout Christchurch being diverted to Fendalton. One car patrolled the route from Garden Road to Hawford Street in case the boy had tried to walk home.
At one stage, seven police cars and a dog van were engaged in the search, but at 8.15 p.m., the missing boy was found safe and well in Millbrook Reserve, only a short distance from where he went missing. ] He was returned to his' [mother.
