Boy thought drowned
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Dec. 10. A Dunedin boy is missing.* believed drowned, after he* and a companion attempted ito wade about 500 yards in the sea from Taieri Island to the mainland at Taieri Mouth today. He is Brian John Carey,] aged 14. of Paterson Street.* Abbotsford. Searchers had failed to find the boy late tonight. At 3.30 p.m.. the boy and his companion were forced to * swim back to shore against the rising tide. His compan- i ion reached the mainland 1 safely. 1
