Wool up 2½p.c. at Wanganui
(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, December 8? Prices for good wools at Wanganui today were fully 2} per cent up on those paid at the Timaru sale this week.
Competition was well spread, the Continent and Eastern Europe being the main buyers, with moderate support from New Zealand mills. The offering of 20,680 bales comprised 47 per cent ewe fleece, 28 per cent early shorn and second shear, 8 per cent hogget fleece, 4 per cent lambs’ wool and the usual oddments. Most of the fleece wool was heavy in condition but was well grown and of a better colour than usual at Wanganui. The small quantity of lambs’ wool was short but of good colour. The official report said that compared with the Timaru sale, fleece was fully 21 per cent dearer, especially for good style and combing length lines. Most other types were up to 2J per cent dearer.
