Father Christmas at Northlands
Father Christmas and “Dooby Dog” will arrive in Christchurch today for their Christmas stay at the Northlands shopping centre. Father Christmas and “Dooby,” at 9.35 a.m., will visit the Phillipstown Free Kindergarten, at 533 St Asaph Street, in their vintage! fire engine. After a stay of I about 25 minutes, they will go to the Christchurch rail-■ way station, arriving at 10.10 a.m., for a free train ride for everyone to Papanui. The I train will leave at 10.30 a.m.| —and during the trip, child-1 ren on board will get free potato crisps, ice lollies, and sweets. Father Christmas i and “Dooby" will pass 1 , through each carriage. The train is scheduled to arrive at the Papanui station at 11.05 a.m. Father Christmas will travel in his vintage! fire engine through Restall > Street to the south entrance of the shopping centre. He will then be available In his sleigh to talk to children. The vintage fire engine, supplied by the Ferrymead Trust, will be used for joy rides in the car park for about two hours. Examinations end.—The University Entrance examinations finished yesterday, and results are expected in the week beginning January j 22 There were 24.587 candidates this year, and about half were accredited. There were 6140 candidates for Bursarv examinations, and; 1176 candidates sat the University Scholarship examinations—(P.A.)
