LEVIN. L. Leonard (Timaru), in a Valiant Charger E 49, broke the lap record in the Castrol GTX 25-lap race, at Levin on Saturday, and scored first points in the series. His time for the lap was 59min Bsec, beating T. Bailey’s time of 60min in a Porsche in January. Leonard won the race from R. Francevic (Ford Capri), of Auckland, and R. Coppins (Valiant Charger E 49) of Papakura. J. Richards and R. Coppins, both of Auckland, easily won the Shell 100 production saloon-car race in their 4345 c.c. Charger.
