Award to lecturer

Dr J. D. Allen, a lecturer at the School of Forestry at the University of Canterbury, who has been granted an award of $9OO under the David Henry Scholarship, which is administered by the directors of N.Z. Forest Products, Ltd. The money will go towards the cost of a study trip to Australia, South Africa, Rhodesia, Kenya, Spain and Chile, where Dr Allen will do research on diseases and insect pests affecting radiata pine.

The second award under the scholarship for 1972 was made to Mr A. N. Cooper, a forest manager for the New Zealand Forest Service at Whaka Forest, Rotorua. An award of $2400 will enable Mr Cooper to visit state and company-owned forests in the United States. Denmark, Germany, Scandinavia and Britain.
