Town Hall progress

The Town Hall was a scene of considerable activity this week-end. The first part of the fence on Kilmore Street was removed by the contractors on Saturday morning in preparation for roadwidening and landscaping.

Early on Saturday afternoon, Dame Ngaio Marsh and others associated with the forthcoming opening play, “Henry V,” spent some time studying stage facilities in the James Hay Theatre. Later in the afternoon a conducted tour of the complex was made by a party of 150 members of the Harmonic Society’s choir. Yesterday morning the Town Hall Committee made one of its periodic tours of inspection acocmpanied by the architects, the contractor and senior council officers.
