Shots fired at window

The police in Ashburton have been unable to locate the person responsible for firing a shotgun at a plate-glass window in the bottle store of the Ashburton Licensing Trust at Allenton early yesterday morning. The 4ft-by-4ft window was smashed, and shotgun pellets were found nearby. A resident heard shots about 2.55 ajn. It is also believed that a window in an Allenton butcher's shop was broken by a shotgun blast in the early morning, but the police were unable to confirm this last evening.
