WARRANT CHECKS
Campaign to be held 1 About 30,000 brochures ex- ;■ plaining checks motorists can make before taking their cars to a testing station will ; be distributed to houses in ! Riccarton, Paparua, and Wai- ’ mairi during the next six weeks. The campaign will be conducted by the joint commit- ; tee which manages the Sockburn testing station. The committee comprises repre- , sentatives of the Paparua and. , Waimairi county councils and of the Riccarton Borough . Council. The chairman of the committee (Mr G. G. Don) said , that in the last year 40 per cent of all vehicles submitted to the Sockbum station had been refused a warrant. In many cases, the rejection could have been avoided if motorists had made a, simple check of their cars before going to the testing station; he said. Last year, the station’stwo lanes tested more than 60,000 i cars. Tenders have been called for a third lane.
