TALLOW RELEASE
(N.Z. Press AMoeiotton) , TAURANGA, March 3L Vandal wasted $l5OO worth or tallow at Mount Maunganui .on Wednesday night when jthey opened two cocks on a 20-ton tallow tank after forcing entry to the Tauranga Egg Marketing Co-operative’s plant in Totara Street. Employees found tallow flowing out the store room door, and lying in a thick two to three inch layer over an area of several hundred feet of lawns, paths, and driveways when they arrived for work on Thursday morning. Twelve tons of tallow had been released, said the mill manager (Mr D. R. Tate). “We topped up the tank only yesterday,” he said. “The valves were checked over, and everything was switched off when we finished work. “A padlock on the door of the mill where the tallow tank was housed was found broken, and the two cocks open. The tallow must have been running for several hours.”
