RETENTION SCHEME

(From Our Own Reporter > WELLINGTON, Mar. 29. The establishment of a stock retention incentive scheme payment review committee was announced by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Carter) today. The members are: chairman, Mr E. A. Lee, a retired magistrate, of Christchurch; Mr E. W. McCallum, former president of Federated Farmers, of Hawera; and Mr M. L. Cameron, director of the Department of Agriculture advisory services division, Wellington. Mr Carter said a.number of problems had arisen regarding bailed and leased sheep. “The Government’s intention for the scheme is to help sheepfarmers whose income has suffered through economic factors beyond their control, and who have been taking the farming risk. “Any person who considers that the intention has not been or may not be achieved in his particular case may apply to the secretary of the committee P.O. Box 2298, Wellington, to have his case reviewed,” said Mr Carter.
