Brig. Galloway retires
Aftei many vears service ' in the Territorial Force, Brigadier L T. Galloway, rector of St Andrew’s College, has retired from the post of Territorial Adviser to the Army General Staff. He has been an associate member of the Army Board since 1968. 1 Brigadier Galloway en-' listed in the Territorial Force « on December 1, 1937, and I served in the ranks of the 1 Wellington Regiment until commissioned in 1939. He < transferred to the New Zea- < land Scottish Regiment in 1 1941, and then served with 1 the 36th Battalion, 2nd N.Z.- i ET., in the Pacific, and then I in the Middle East with the 1 25th Battalion. i When the Territorial Force i was reactivated in 1948, j: Brigadier Galloway volunteered for service and was posted to the Ist Armoured Car Regiment (New Zealand Scottish). He became commanding officer in 1956, and in 1959 was promoted to colonel, and appointed commander, 4th Armoured Brigade. In 1960, he was promoted to brigadier and appointed commander, 2nd Infantry Brigade. After a major reorganisation of the New Zealand Army in 1961, Brigadier Galloway was appointed deputy commander, 2nd Infantry Brigade Group. He became commander of the Logistic Support Group in 1964. ■ Athl«tic».—The Otago athlete, B. A.
