Commonwealth Games appeal contributions from throughout New Zealand in cash and promises now total $510,404.77. This figure, up to March 3, includes $199,999.54 made up of sums
of $5OO or more received from outside Canterbury. Contributions and promises under $5OO received from outside Canterbury now total $49,638.94. Recent contributions include:

Autumn frost The first frost of the year at Christchurch Airport was recorded on Tuesday night The temperature was minus Ideg C. It was also the first frost of the autumn, which is deemed to begin on March 1. Winter begins on June 1, according to the Meteorological Office. ____
