Warm start for 1972
The New Year had a fine beginning on Saturday, when the highest temperature this summer—34 degrees—was recorded by the Meteorological Office, Harewood. This is equal to 93 degrees on the old Fahrenheit scale. At 7 a.m. the temperature was 22.8 degrees and it rose steadily throughout the day, reaching its peak during mid-afternoon. At 7 p.m. it was still 27 degrees. Yesterday was also hot, although cloudy, only Ihr 48min of sunshine being recorded. The highest temperature recorded at Harewood yesterday was 28 degrees.
