Blonde in a box
Motorists driving along a west of England road in pouring rain early one morning were shaken by the sight of a pretty young blonde, standing by the roadside trying to attract their attention. Her only clothing was a soggy cardboard box. .Most of the motorists, being cautious types, drove on, and some reported the incident at the next police station.
The woman, as the 8.8.C.’s “Magazine Miscellany” said, was a social worker. Having soent the night in her car, she was enticed by an early morning downpour to take an open-air shower. So she put her clothes on the seat and stepped out into the refreshing rain, only to have the car’s self-locking doors shut behind her. She could not get them open, and as the morning advanced, cars began to pass. The only covering in sight was the discarded cardboard box, so she stepped into this and tried to flag down a kindly intentionea motorist. They just drove on faster, until an English gentleman driving a lorry pulled up and forced the car door open. The police decided to take no action and kept the name and address of the woman secret. “We understand.” they said. “That she has already suffered enough embarrassment.”
