Man found in search

(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Dec. 30. A Nelson Aero Club aircraft made a search of the eastern side of D’Urville Island yesterday afternoon after a boat was reported two hours overdue at its destination at the northern end of the island.

Mr George Gould, who is understood to be a Canadian and to have been living at Port Hardy, on D’Urville Island for about three months, left Kapowai, at the southern end of the island, about 11.30 a.m. intending to take his boat round Cape Stephens to Port Hardy. When he reached Cape Stephens his boat started shipping water from the stem, so he turned around and went to Puangiangi, an island of the Rangitoto group. A farmer from Patuki, Mr B. Moleta, found the missing man on Puangiangi about 6.15 p.m.
