Superstition leads to big catch
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. Exactly 12 months to the day since catching a 3651 b thresher shark on an 801 b line, the secretary of the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club (Mrs A. Clark) caught a 2961 b thresher on an 801 b line Superstition caused Mrs Clark to book a boat to coincide with the anniver-
sary of her 3651 b catch. The catch on Tuesday was hard going—especially for a woman who is slight of build and weighs not much more than eight stone. After playing her catch for two hours and a half, Mrs Clark said she was exhausted. “The hardest slog of my life—sheer hard slog, and I am burnt to pieces,” she said. “The fish died on me, went to the bottom and I had to pull up a dead weight”
