New Britten opera
Benjamin Britten is working on a new opera based on Thomas Mann’s “Death in Venice.” The libretto is by Myfanwy Piper, who worked with Britten on the “Turn of IDUSTRIES),” [ 2-/2 J The first performance will be given by the English Opera Group, under the composer’s direction, at The Maltings during the 1973 Aldeburgh Festival.
