Morecambe and Wise

One of Britain’s bestknown comedy teams, Morecambe and Wise, begin their first series in New Zealand on Tuesday evening. The style will be much the same as their previous successful shows for independent television—Cross-talk, gags and sketches. Producer John Ammonds says: “When you get two brilliant comics like these two you don’t change their style. You just let them get on with it.” Morecambe and Wise have with them their scriptwriters Dick Hills and Sid Green who, as well as writing the shows, appear in them. The cast also includes Jenny Lee-Wright as a serial-type stripper, whose act is continued bit by bit from week to week. Other regulars (for the last five programmes) are Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen. Guest stars include Matt Munro, Bruce Forsyth, Ray Budd, Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band.

There are eight half-hour programmes in the series.
