Driver in crash
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. The standard productioncar competitor, K. Grant (Palmerston North) was taken to the Tauranga Hospital with suspected neck injuries after an accident in Heat 1 of the Castrol production-car championship event at the Bay Park raceway. Mount Maunganui, yesterday. Grant's Holden Torana spun coming out of a bend and was hit on the driver’s side door by L. Leonard’s Valiant Charger. Both cars left the track with the force of the impact Grant was taken from his car by ambulance men. Both cars were extensively damaged, but Leonard (Timaru) was only shaken.
