AUCKLAND.
Auckland took the lead in the Plunket Shield cricket competition yesterday when it beat Central Districts outright at Eden Park.
Resuming at 110 for seven, Central did not look like getting back in the game and was all out for 141, still 165 runs behind Auckland’s first innings total of 414. Its batting was as inept as the first innings performance when it was forced to foUow on and the game was over after 35 minutes play today. Auckland was superior in all facets of the game and fully Reserved its 21 points —lO for the outright win and 11 bonus points—from the first game of the Shield season.
