Pollard steers B side to victory

WELLINGTON.

Four Wellington batsmen almost thwarted Canterbury B in the representative cricket match at the Basin Reserve yesterday.

P. Tindill, M. Coles. C. Chisholm and P. Wright survived for long periods against a strong attack, but Canterbury was still able to beat Wellington by 'five wickets after a hectic final hour.

Wellington B was In trouble at 169 for six, but : Tindill and Coles, with stub, bom defence, and then : Wright and Chisholm, boosted : -their side’s total to2Bo. Canterbury lost quick wickets, but the experience of V. Pollard finally won it the match. Pollard made a.quick 34 not out, finding little difficulty in combating the legtheory used by H. Morgan and the other Wellington bowlers.
