Woman dies in accident
The woman who was killed when a car left the road on State Highway Np. 83, six miles west of Otematata, on Monday night was Mary Katherine Ryan, aged 23, of Christchurch, a n*irse, whose parents live in Ashburton.
Her hitch-hiking companion, a 22-year-old Australian working in Christchurch, suffered a fractured leg in the accident.
Allan Buchanan, aged 22, of Macdonald Street, Timaru, suffered cuts and abrasions to the face and body, and Michael Condon McGrath, aged 22, of Mackenzie Drive, TWizel, back injuries.
