LEG BROKEN IN SURF
No rescues were reported by surf clubs patrolling Christchurch beaches yesterday. The only casualty appeared to have been a man in the surf at South Brighton whose leg was broken when he was hit by a surf board. Most beaches had their share of sun worshippers and swimmers although not many were in the water anywhere. An easterly wind blew sand along beaches and made the sea choppy.
Some members of the Waimairi Surf Club were kept occupied yesterday afternoon burying a porpoise which had been washed up on the beach.
