Mercy flight to Chch

HASTINGS, December 28. A Waipukurau man, Mr Richard Mackie, aged 48, a solicitor, is in a satisfactory condition in Christchurch Hospital, after an accident last Thursday. Mr Mackie, riding a motorscooter, hit a building in Ruataniwha Street, Waipukurau. He suffered a severe neck injury and was almost completely paralysed. A pillion passenger on the motorscooter was not injured. A light aircraft fitted for air-ambulance work took Mr Mackie, his wife and a doctor to Christchurch where Mr Mackie was admitted to hospital in a serious condition.
