Fiction contest awards

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. The $2OOO first prize in the Auckland centennial fiction contest has been won by Mrs A. Glenday, of Palmerston North, with a novel, “Follow, Follow.” Second prize of $lOOO went to Mr W. E. Owen, of Auckland, for a novel, “Tryphena’s Summer.”

There were 154 entries. The judges were Dr J. C. Reid and Mr M. H. Holcroft.

The judges also selected 10 I other novels as highly re-1 commended and described L them as suitable for publica-I tion. They are by T. E. Dor-1 man, T. Joumet, C. Peters, J. L Parkyn, P. Bates, M. K. I Joseph, P. Bums, G. M. N Kelly, C. M. Bowles and I.l' B. Colley. | Eleven other novels, in the I the judges’ opinion, deserved commendation and would be suitable for publication after revision.
