Fiction contest awards
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. The $2OOO first prize in the Auckland centennial fiction contest has been won by Mrs A. Glenday, of Palmerston North, with a novel, “Follow, Follow.” Second prize of $lOOO went to Mr W. E. Owen, of Auckland, for a novel, “Tryphena’s Summer.”
There were 154 entries. The judges were Dr J. C. Reid and Mr M. H. Holcroft.
The judges also selected 10 I other novels as highly re-1 commended and described L them as suitable for publica-I tion. They are by T. E. Dor-1 man, T. Joumet, C. Peters, J. L Parkyn, P. Bates, M. K. I Joseph, P. Bums, G. M. N Kelly, C. M. Bowles and I.l' B. Colley. | Eleven other novels, in the I the judges’ opinion, deserved commendation and would be suitable for publication after revision. They are by N. H. Harris, C. Alexander, A. M. Manning, W. Taylor, I. Bootham, G. Dryland, F. O. Bennett, J. McCleghan, J. * Dreaver, F. R. Sharplin and I M. R. Henderson,
