Fatah man accused (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) , AMMAN, Sept 9. A man who said he was a Palestine guerrilla hijacked a Royal Jordanian Airlines Caravelle jet to Libya yesterday after threatening to blow it up with a handgrenade. The man, identified later by the Jordanian Transport Minister (Mr Anis al-Ma’ Ashar) as Lieutenant Mohammed Jaber, of the Fatah commando organisation, seized the plane over Egypt The plane, carrying 47 passengers and 10 crew, was on a regular scheduled flight between Beirut and Amman. The Jordanian Prime Minister (Mr Wasfi Tell) condemned the hijacking as “a disgusting act of sabotage." When the plane landed in Benghazi, it was immediately boarded by a Libyan lieutenant four red-bereted policemen armed with sub-machine-guns, and two officials. As they approached, the commando shouted: “I have orders to blow up the plane.” The Libyans reasoned with him and after a few moments he walked quietly out of the aircraft escorted by the policemen. The plane later took off for Amman.
