TEAM FOR 1st TEST

Seven have visited N.Z. Seven players who hav< visited New Zealand with British Rugby league teams have been included in the Great Britain side to play the Kiwis in the first test at Salford on September 25. They are the three-quarters A. Smith, C. Hesketh, and J- Atkinson, the standoff half, R. Millward, the loose forward and captain, D. Laughton, and the reserve, D. Edwards, all of whom toured Australia and New Zealand last year, and the forward J. Warlow, who was in the 1968 World Cup. The hooker, A. Karalius, a younger brother of the former British representative, V. Karalius, and W. Ashurst are the new internationals. Ashurst had to withdraw from the World Cup team last October because of injury but has been in outstanding form for Wigan. He will partner a former England Rugby union star, M. Couhnan, in the second row. The team is: D. Whitehead (Warrington), A. Smith (Leeds), W. Benyon (St Helens), C. Hesketh (Salford), J. Atkinson (Leeds), R. Millward (Hull), S. Nash (Featherstone Rovers), J. Warlow (Widnes), A. Karalius (St Helens), D. Jean/s (Wakefield Trinity), W. Ashurst (Wigan), M. Coutman (Salford), D. Laughton (Wigan, captain). Reserves: D. Edwards (Castleford), J. ManUe (St Helens). -
