LSD SELLING CHARGE

Two-year gaol term (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Sept. 7. A two year prison term was imposed on a 29-year-old insurance salesman, Malcolm Roger Craig Madigan, when he appeared before Mr Justice Speight in the Supreme Court at Dunedin, for sentence on a charge of selling LSD at Balclutha between April 1 and April 30. Madigan pleaded guilty to the charge this week, amending the original plea of not guilty which was entered after depositions were taken. His Honour said that although he accepted that Madigan was of previous good character and that a term of imprisonment would be a matter of great hardship, the personal factors presented "pale into insignificance” beside the gravity of the offence.
