Govt booklet published

The State Services Commission, the largest employer in New Zealand, is conscious of the need for young people to make an informed choice of a career, and to this end it has produced a 12-page booklet on the subject

“Choosing a Job” gives the school-leaver an indication of what job* are available and what they involve. It gives them advice on how to apply for work, and how to make a good impression at the first interview. There •* also a section on enjoying a new job, and how get along with people. The booklet advises

school-leavers that whether they want an executive career or technical work, to learn a trade, to study for a profession, or even when not sure what to do, they should first obtain all the facts.

The booklet says that Government departments offer more than 300 careers, wide experience, thorough training, study awards, and “unbeatable opportunities to get ahead."
