Miss Devlin to stand again fN.Z. Fre«« Awn. —Copyright.) BELFAST, Sept 2. Miss Bernadette Devlin, who gave birth to a baby daughter 10 days ago, will continue in politics and stand for her Mid-Ulster seat at the next General Election.
The 24-year-old Independent, in her first interview since the birth of her daughter, said yesterday that she would be bringing up the child herself. She was calling her daughter Roisin Elizabeth. When asked if she would be bringing up her daughter as a Roman Catholic, she replied: “That is my own business.” However, she said that the child would be baptised in the Roman Catholic Church. Miss Devlin said that she would be starting work again on Monday, but that she did not intend returning to London for a fortnight as she wanted to continue campaigning against “injustices” in Northern Ireland.
