Fine record in race

“The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. Gore amateur horseman Mr J. G. Kelly will be attempting to maintain a rather remarkable record when he rides Silver Idol, which he part-owns with his wife and trains in the B. S. Irwin Memorial Steeplechase at the Otago Hunt meeting tomorrow. Silver Idol was sent out favourite at Gore last week on the strength of some excellent jumping in the hunting Helds but he dropped out to seventh because of his lack of seasoned condition. However, he should be a much more difficult horse to beat at Wingatui. Io nine contests for the B. S. Irwin Steeples, for amateur riders, Mr Kelly has won seven—in successive j’ears on Callamara, Tom Dooley, Beirut 'twice), Faraja. Doomsday and Peter—and also finished second last year on Silver Savant.
