SHAREMARKET DRIFTS LOWER IN DULL TRADING

The New Zealand sharemarket was generally easier in dull trading yesterday. Although a few leaders edged higher, most of the price changes among them were down.

The main interest of the day was in the finance and timber companies. A.C.S. and C.S.I. were 2c firmer but B.N.Z. Finance lost sc. P.T.Y. rights, Robert Holt, and Taupo Totara edged higher. Baillie up 3c, Bing Harris up 2c and Newton King up 5c were among the less active stock to firm.

Fletcher Holdings gained 2c and Wattie was a cent firmer.

The insurance companies weakened ' further with

South British 5c lower at 535 c and N.Z.I. down 3c at 338 c. Capital Life lost a cent to 47c.

N.Z. Refrigerating succumed to the weakness in its particular comer of the

market and dropped 7c to 85c.

Forests looked a little steadier with a marginal fall but U.E.B. lost 2c to 116 c, and Feltex lost its recent gain of 4c.
