ACCIDENTS REDUCED

Reductions in accidents brought about by improved street lighting are described in the latest issue of the Road Research Unit newsletter. Between December 1966 and March 1967 the street lighting at 11 intersections in Hamilton was improved, the newsletter says. In the three years before the improvements there were 31 night-time accidents at the intersections. In the three years after the improvements the number of nighttime accidents was 11. In contrast, day-time accidents differed by only three: they dropped from 53 to 50.
