DROUGHT RELIEF

Assistance ended

Drought relief assistance would cease as from September I, the chairmen of the North Canterbury and Central Canterbury Drought Relief Committees, Messrs R. A. Milne and R. G. Jolly, announced after meetings of their committees.

They said that where people still had stock away grazing to qualify for assistance these stock must have returned by September 30. All claims would have to be lodged with their respective committees by November 15.

Mr Jolly said that his [committee had so far paid unit $17,000 in assistance.
