Woman hurt

A woman was admitted to Christchurch Hospital late last evening after the light van in which she was a passenger struck a power pole on Avonside Drive between Stanmofe Road and Fitzgerald Avenue about 11.40.

She is Miss Betty Broad, of 406 Oxford Terrace, who suffered leg and facial lacerations. Her condition was not known early this morning. The driver of the van, Mr Allen Murray Wright, of Bowhili Road, was treated for shock.

The impact of the accident broke the top section of the power pole.
