SENIOR TENNIS
Changes in play Senior men’s and senior women’s teams In the Canterbury Lawn Tennnls Association’s competitions this season will be restricted to six each and will play two rounds of five matches, the points from the first round to be carried forward. This was decided by the competitions committee at its first meeting for the season last evening. The committee set October 11 as the date for the closing of entries for all grades. The senior grades will, therefore, play 10 matches and these will be held weekly over the whole season as commitments for representative matches and tournaments allow. Last year the championship was held before Christmas and a supplementary competition waa held after Christmas. The committee also decided that senior men, senior women and senior reserve matches would be played with sets of a nine-point tie-break.
Boxing.—A New Zealand wel-ter-weight boxer, W. Fatu, scored a seventh round technical knockout over the Victorian, P. Lund, in a 10 round bout at the Melbourn Festival Hail.
Cricket.—The national Hally-burton-Johnstone women'! cricket tournament will be held to Dunedin from December 1 to December 11. A New Zealand team is to tour Australia and South Africa later. *
