Record price

A new world record has been set for the price of a car sold at auction, Los Angeles correspondents report—a Connecticut neurologist has just paid $52,679 for a rare 1936 Bugatti

coupe. The car is believed to be one of only two of its type, and it was last sold in 1947 for $4464. It is a 57SC Bugatti Atlantique Electron. ■file man who bought the car is Dr P. Williamson, the president of the American Bugatti Club and a man who already owns 13 vin-

tage cars. The price he paid displaces the former record price of $40,178 which was paid for a 1913 Mercei Raceabout sold in the United States in 1968.
