LONGBURN STRIKE
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 5. Longbum freezing workers today decided by secret ballot to go on strike. The strike will begin from midnight on Sunday, so that all stock in the yards and in transit can be processed. This action had been taken as a result of the Co-opera-tive Wholesale Society’s decision to lay off more than 200 men so that alterations could be made at the works, said a union spokesman.
