World Airways hopeful
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, August 4. World Airways had been received more enthusiastically in New Zealand than previously, said a representative of the airline, Mr F. Costello, in Wellington today. World Airways this week applied for New Zealand Government permission to bring 50 tourist flights to this country in 1973. This is the airline’s third attempt to obtain landing rights. The airline estimates that the 50 flights, using 707 and DCB and 63 aircraft, will bring 10,000 tourists to New Zealand. Mr Costello said he had called on the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) and the Minister of Tourism (Mr Walker). Asked when World Airways would get an answer from the Government, Mi Gordon said it wanted a reply by the end of the year. He hoped to give them an answer in about two or three months.
