With continuing increases in the price of school text- . books, the time might be approaching when microfilming ■ would be cheaper than con- ' ventional books, Mr C- E. , Fenwick told a meeting of the Hillmorton High School i Board. . t Mr Fenwick said that there - probably had been a rise of i about 20 per cent in the cost . of textbooks during the last ilB months. He asked what i the cost was per pupil On this years textbook ■ grant, the cost to each pupil i is about $7, the total coat in the school’s budget being ■ about $6300. "Then microfilming is still far off,” said Mr Fenwick. i The headmaster (Mr F. W. i Murdoch) said the Depart- ’ ment of Education reckoned i textbooks to have a life of four years. There was howi ever, a problem in changes in syllabus: most textbooks were outdated within 10 years and often in five years.
