Basketball test referee
One of the finest men’s basketball referees this country has produced, Mr
B. McCormack, of Canterbury, will officiate at all three test matches between Australia and New Zealand this month.
He headed the list of three referees nominated « for the position by the New Zealand Men’s Basketball Referees’ Association and his appointment has since been confirmed by the New Zealand Men’s Basketball Association. The second referee in the three tests will be an Australian. Mr McCormack, a Warrant Officer in charge of physical education at Bumham Military Camp,
has been one of New Zealand’s top- referees for almost a decade. He has officiated at two Australian - championshipcarnivals and at a Pan Pacific Games festival. Last season he refereed in both the test matches between New Zealand and the Czechoslovakian tourists and is only one of five persons in this country recognised by the world body as international referees.
