Crew shortage
The Union Steam Ship Company’s Kowhai has completed a routine overhaul and survey at Lyttelton, but cannot sail because of a crew shortage. She is bound for Taurahga ’to load export cargo' for Australia; Late yesterctay afternoon she still needed three able seamen and one motorman to complete her complement. Calls were made all over New Zealand on Monday and yesterday.
