Gaiters are back

I can remember the time not so very long ago, when children wore gaiters. Now, leg-covering of cloth or leather from the knee down to the ankle is back—for fashionable women, writes Norman Hartnell, from London.

Today, gaiters are not worn over shoes but cling silkily under them, to look like skintight boots. You can own several pairs of gaiters, in many colours, and wear shoes over them. They are marvellous for the midi, yet they are economical —as anyone who has recently bought two pairs of boots will find.

The nicest gaiters match exactly the colour of the midi and shoe with which they are worn.

Gaiters are the trendiest things in town. I advise you to indulge in several pairs, I at once.
