Regional body grows

WELLINGTON, Feb. 19.
The Australasian regional conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association yesterday voted in favour of extending membership to almost a dozen Pacific countries, most of which were represented at the conference by observers. In the closing stages of the four-day meeting, delegates from the Commonwealth of Australia, the six Australian states, the Northern Territory, Papua-New Guinea and New Zealand voted to extend membership to all the countries which had sent observers, as well as Tonga, Malaysia, and the Gilbert and Ellice Islands—which had been unable to attend.
The countries represented by observers were the British Solomon Islands, Fiji, Western Samoa, Nauru, Singapore, Hong Kong, the; Cook Islands and Niue.
