(N.Z. Press Association; WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. "Parklands” at Waikanae, a new type of accommodation for the elderly, has been opened by the Governor - General (Sir Arthur Porritt). The project, designed for retired persons with modest means, consists of twobedroom, modem, individual villas set among trees and gardens. Three of the proposed 70 dwellings have been completed, and two have been sold for $10,550 and $10,850. The price includes floor coverings and a requisite payment of $l6OO to the Parklands Trust Board towards reading, water, sewerage, street lighting, and other developmental costs. A further 16 sites have been sold to people from all parts of the country. A $6-a-week charge levied on each owner, contributes towards maintenance.
