ONE TOO MANY

S.L soccer entries The Southern Soccet League Council, meeting in Oamaru on the week-end after next, will have a tricky problem to solve making 21 fit into 20. Three new entries into the league for the coming season will enable the council to increase the second division from eight to 10 teams the same as the first division but it will also leave one over. The newcomers are Northern Hearts (Timaru), Waihopai (Invercargill) and Oamaru, and the council will either have to reject one of them or arrange a play-off series. The Oamaru entry is the first from North Otago and is almost certain to be accepted, and if the decision is to reject one of the three clubs it must be either Hearts or Waihopai. Timaru is already represented in the competition by the City club, while Southland ha I two participants last season Queen’s Park and Invercargill City. _
