RAPAKI JETTY
Future to be discussed The Rapaki Maori Council will asked the Lyttelton Harbour Board to receive a deputation to discuss the future of the Gallipoli jetty at Rapaki. It is a First World War memorial, but needs repairs. This decision was reached at a meeting yesterday of the council and others interested. Mr G. M. Couch said later it was hoped that the board would repair the jetty, perhaps with help from residents, then take it over and keep it as a memorial. . The council had received many offers of donations towards the cost, and he was now prepared to accept them, said Mr Couch. The Christchurch and Lyttelton R.S.A.s supported the proposals.
