First time in 15 years

• > (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Feb. 5. The Minister of Works and member of Parliament for the Bay of Plenty (Mr Allen) yesterday refused a Bay of Plenty Trades Council invitation to visit the Kawerau paper mills to talk to 2000 men who say they are reluctant to work overtime because of heavy tax on overtime earning.

.Mr Allen said that in 15 years of election campaigning in the area, the Kawarau paper mills had refused to open their gates to him. "It is the only industry in my electorate to shut me out during elections. .."I don’t see why after 15 years they should suddenly want me to address them,” Mr Allen said.

Mr Allen did, however, meet a trades council delegation at Kawerau yesterday. The council was protesting about tax on overtime. He agreed to discuss the subject with the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon).
